Water, Energy and Environment (Vol 1)
Welcome to the first issue of UMP Research Series: Water, Energy and Environment (Volume 1). We cover a wide range of research areas in water, energy and environment in Malaysia.
Chapter 1 includes five papers that introduce various recent matters concerning water management in Malaysia. This chapter describes some of the vital aspects in the water industry, such as on-site detention pond design, representative concentration pathways, analytic hierarchy process, rainfall intensity and low flow frequency analysis. Chapter 2 presents five papers that discuss the current situation in the field of energy in Malaysia. This chapter describes the technical aspects of energy such as product design, biogas production, solar photovoltaic panel and gasification performance. The final section, chapter 3, consists of five papers that highlight the recent findings in the environment. This chapter describes several essential elements in the environmental fields, such as sewage and wastewater treatment, organic fertiliser packaging, natural absorbent, and dissolved air flotation tank. It is hoped that the readers of this book would benefit from the variety of the themes presented, and may be provided with a current overview of the research area in the water, energy and environment in Malaysia.
